Abstract |
|
Proton-exchange membrane fuel cells (PEMFCs) are consideredas a promising alternative for furture energy needs due to their high efficency, low pollutant emission and lightweight portable property. However, the proton conductivity of membrane decreases under low-humidity, as well as the ohmic resistance of the cell increases, leading to rapid decay in cell performance. The development of self-humidifying proton exchange membrane can not only address the problem of water lose, but also avoids unnecessary cost and self-energy consumptionof PEMFC. Therefore, a novel confined zeolite-PFSA “structure”composite membrane were constructed. The new structure design utilizes water adsorption capacity of zeolite, and forbids the formation discontinuous zeolite phase which may affect proton transport due to the aggregation of zeolite particles.
